Ok, I LOVE Halloween. I love costumes. I love crafts. I love being someone else for a night. I love glitter. I mean, if it was up to me, Halloween and the day after would be National holidays and no one would shame adults for trick-or-treating (There's no law against it! I love treats too! Gimme!)

But, the day after Halloween Sugar-Cocktail-Up-Too-Late Hangover is getting harder and harder to manage as I get older. Not to mention, I have to be on the ball the next morning (usually before the sun is up) to Mom the heck out of the day. So, here's how we're handling Halloween in a healthy way 1. Vegetable Soup

Before we go out door to door, I made a huge crock pot of vegetable soup, which I'll serve with a protein, like tofu or tempeh. It's warm and filling and will help us all from binging on candy when we get home (or while we're going from house to house, let's be honest here) 2. We only bought ONE small bag of candy

Rather than buying a huge bag of candy and snacking on the left overs until New Years.

3. Drinking tons of water

Keeping hydrated helps curb my appetite for sweets, so drink up!

4. Get green

I made a huge batch of a green, juice-like, smoothie with pineapple, lemon and kale. I even made the leftovers into popsicles for the kiddo! She prefers her greens in frozen form. Whatever works, kiddo, you got your greens in today!

5. Fix approved cocktail!

Even though my days of hitting the bar for Halloween are kinda behind me (we used to go to Donny Dirk's Zombie Den every Halloween, in full costume, of course!), I still want to have a drink that feels fun but doesn't lead me too far away from my goals.

Ingredients:

1 Yellow container of red wine (or white, if you like) 3 strawberries, chopped

1 can of LaCroix water in the flavor of your choice - I picked lime Put strawberries in your wine glass, pour wine over and top with LaCroix! Done! Don't forget to log this as a "treat"! 6. I still had Autumn Calabrese kick my booty.

I got up early and got my workout in, so I had no excuses and no guilt about a treat later. I started 21 Day Fix EXTREME today, so more on that soon! Have a beautiful Halloween!
